Post Lock-down Reopening

The Committee are very pleased to confirm that we have now re-opened our doors, albeit with restrictions, and we were happy to welcome our members and some guests back last weekend. We feel the processes we have put in place will help to keep our staff and our members and visitors as safe as we can, but we would ask that the following policy is adhered to where possible:

Other than to order drinks and use the toilet facilities, the interior of the club is reserved for fully paid up members and their spouses in terms of seating. We recognise that this measure may present certain issues, but restrictions around interior ‘standing’ have reduced our internal seating capacity drastically, and with over 200 paid members, we sadly cannot accommodate everyone, particularly when people are from different family hub’ groups. This would mean that all visitors to the club should be aware prior to arrival, that in the event of inclement weather, once we have filled our internal seating capacity with members, no-one else will be allowed to enter the building for purposes other than ordering drinks and using the toilet facilities.

Additionally, we are not currently accepting new membership applications as this would exacerbate this issue further. We do understand that there will be members who have been unable to renew this year due to the imposition of ‘lockdown’, and we will try and take this into consideration wherever possible.

There are currently no pool or darts facilities in operation at present. The situation is under review and we will announce any changes as they happen.

We have tried to put in place reasonable adjustments which will keep our staff and visitors safe, so please listen to and follow instructions given to you by staff at all times.

Any person entering the building is required, without exception, to provide their name and contact number for ‘track and trace’ purposes. Any person believed to be entering false details will be asked to produce identification, or leave the premises.

Whilst we have done all that we feel we can to provide a safe environment, everyone is responsible for their own health and safety whilst at the premises in terms of Covid issues. We do not expect our staff to have to police social distancing measures as they are well known and established, and visitors should ‘police’ themselves in this regard.

We appreciate that music is an important part of the atmosphere of the Club but for the time being to comply with the current guidelines, we would ask members to refrain from using devices to play music in or outside the premises.

Finally, our fantastic staff are working really hard under reduced hours and numerous restrictions, and we would ask that you show them appropriate respect and be patient during these difficult times. We are endeavouring to ensure that our committee members are on hand as much as we can be to assist.

These are the first small steps back to some normality for us all, and we are sure if we all follow the appropriate guidelines, we can start to look at increasing opening hours and capacities very shortly. Many thanks for your support.

As things are changing constantly, we will continue to review each situation as it arises.

Press Release – 1st August 2020

To all our members,

We hope you have all been keeping safe and well; as you may be aware, the club will be re-opening on Thursday 6th August from 5pm. We are following the government’s guidance on managing the risk of COVID-19 and have put the following measures in place for the comfort and safety of our members and employees. We will keep these measures under review and update you of any changes, as necessary. To avoid disappointment or the possibility of being turned away, please read the information below before visiting.

Please do not visit and stay at home if you, or someone you live with, has any of the following symptoms or you are isolating under government guidelines.

  • A high temperature
  • A new, continuous cough
  • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste.

Initially, we will be open to members only and we will be keeping record of all members who visit us, in line with government guidance. Handwashing facilities and hand sanitiser stations will be provided on entry to the club.

If you begin to feel unwell whilst visiting us, please let a committee member know and vacate the premises as soon as possible. If any member contracts COVID-19, we will have to implement the track and trace system and the club will close for 14 days. Furthermore, if you suspect that anyone is ill whilst on site, please report it.

Please see our revised opening times below:

  • Thursdays 5-9pm
  • Fridays 4-10 pm
  • Saturdays 4-9pm
  • Sundays 3-9pm

These will be strictly adhered to and last orders will be called half an hour before closing. Please note that these times are under review and if our re-opening proves successful, we will also look to open between Monday and Wednesday.

Please be assured that the club is thoroughly cleaned every morning; we have been subject to a deep clean which occurred on Friday 31st July.

On arrival, you will be required to sanitise, sign in, order, pay and then find a table. We ask that members wishing to visit alone, seat themselves at a table with as few chairs as possible.

Children must be seated at all times to ensure social distancing guidelines are being followed, and that our other members feel comfortable. Should they wish to use the toilets, children must be supervised by an adult.

We will be limiting the number of members allowed on site, to ensure that social distancing guidelines can be followed. If poor weather ensues, we currently only have the capacity for 33 members indoors. We ask that you take this into consideration and respect other members who may want to use the club’s facilities.

Drinks will be served by way of table service only; where possible the same person will serve you to reduce the number of people our employees come into contact with. There will be no bar service and we ask that you do not congregate at the bar.

When you have finished your drinks, we ask that you place any empty glasses upside down in the dishwasher crates provided.

There will be marked routes indicating the direction of flow around the premises – please follow this one-way system.

Toilets will have limited entry; however, this is at our members discretion to police this sensibly themselves.

Doors and windows will be wedged open to reduce touch points and improve ventilation.

Initially, dogs will not be allowed inside the premises purely for hygiene reasons. If you require a bowl of water, please ask a member of staff to bring one to you outside.

For the time being, the pool room is completely out of bounds, however, this is under review.

We ask that any rubbish is disposed of correctly in the bins provided.

We will also be serving a limited stock which will include Guinness, Hogan’s Cider, Aspalls Cider, one guest ale, Staropramen and Carling. Mixers will include tonic, soda waters and some cans. Snacks will include nuts, some crisps, Mini Cheddars, and pork scratchings. Wines and spirits will be on sale as normal. We have also had to revise our price list.

It is the members own responsibility to follow the social distancing rules, and we ask that you show respect not only to your fellow members, but also to the bar staff.

We understand that these rules are trying, but they have been put in place to ensure your own safety as well as the safety of others. We hope that many of you will come back and support us and we thank-you for your co-operation during this challenging time.

Notice to Members

Whilst we appreciate that pubs and restaurants are now able to open as of the 4th July, we are choosing to prolong re-opening to ensure the absolute safety of both our staff and our members.

We are currently looking to open from Monday 3rd August, we thank you for your patience during this difficult time.

ACC Committee

Dear members,

As you would expect our AGM has been postponed due to the effects of Covid-19.

The AGM meeting will take place as and when the lockdown restrictions allow us to once again open our doors and welcome our members and guests.

The Club has again had a good year during 2019. Our fabulous team and Committee have worked hard all year and I thank every one of them for helping maintain our role as a hub of the community. The many events, such as the Quiz nights, events for the children, and the fabulous music nights have both helped the club to flourish, and have raised welcome funds for various charities.

Our programme of improving the quality of the club, and putting it on a sound financial footing, has again helped secure our future. This will continue throughout 2020.

In terms of the club finances, I want to assure you as members that we are in a better position now than we have ever been. This has put us in very good stead to weather the economical storm of the virus.

Our duty to our members is clear and we will open again with the safety and well-being of our members in mind, as soon as we can.

As stated we will hold the AGM for presentation of the accounts, and election of officers as soon as we have an opportunity. I would welcome new applications to the Committee for those that wish to contribute to our success story, and we do need your input.

I will close by giving you, the members, a big THANK YOU  for your support during 2019, and look forward to that continuing throughout 2020, however that may pan out.
